Penang - Love Lane

There are many backpacker hostels along Love Lane such as Reggae Penang, Red Inn Guesthouse, Old Penang Guesthouse. Three of these hostels located next to each other. Besides, there are many cafes located in Love Lane too like Micke's Place, Behind 50's, The Mugshot and Nostalgie Homestay & Cafe. We went to Love Lane to settle down the accommodation for the 2nd day. The reason we didn't book the room earlier is because we wanted to look at the room ourselves in case the hostel is located far away for the shops or we might be dangerous walking at night. We wanted to stay in Reggae Penang but we were told that the beds were fully booked. There is a cafe downstair of Reggae Penang. You can get a bed for only RM28! VERY CHEAP RIGHT? Bring your bedsheet or perfume as the bed might be a bit smelly. At the end, we chose Red Inn Guesthouse. We got a room with double decker bed with RM35/per person.

I stayed in Kedah when I was small. It is my mother's hometown. Back to Perak when Standard 1 as I have to attend primary school. We went back to Kedah during school holidays. This situation went on until my grandmother passed away. After that, we didn't go back often. We always miss the food there! Char Kuey Teow, Kuey Teow Teng, Hokkien Mee, Jawa Mee, Lo Mee, Si Gui Teng and so on! We found one dish that we missed for so long in a stall near Love Lane! It is Char Dua Ban! (炒大板) also equal to Chao He Fen (炒河粉). There were tables and chairs like what showed in the picture. We used to have noodles in this type of table and chair in Kedah when we were small too.

The Mugshot
Sister spotted the bakery and cafe. She suggested to give it a try as she knew I like this kind of place. We didn't know it was The Mugshot until we located the cafe in Instagram. Haha! Their bagel and coffee is good! It is a nice chilling place.

The Night
By staying in Love Lane, you can settle your dinner by walking to the main road within 5 minutes where there are many stalls selling different types of Penang local dishes at night.
